In partnership with Project Reef, CORAL will work with over 100community volunteers to restore and reforest a degraded landscape with native plants that trap the polluted runoff before it has a chance to enter the ocean.
Native plants such as pili grass and natural materials like coconut coirs help slow runoff, trap sediment, and absorb nutrients. Our reforestation approach restores the natural function of an ahupua'a (watershed), and this combined with community activation and awareness helps ensure corals have the clean and clear water that they need to thrive.
